Mercer Advisors, Inc. (“Mercer Advisors”), a national wealth management and financial planning firm, today announced the completed rollout of Aspen Investing, a proprietary investment platform that enhances the delivery of personalized, institutional-grade portfolios for the clients the firm serves. Aspen Investing represents the next evolution of Mercer Advisors’ centralized investment capabilities and allows every advisory team to access the full power of the firm’s more than $100 billion centralized investment platform. Aspen Investing makes client portfolios fully native within the Aspen platform and helps deliver investment cost-savings to clients through the firm’s strategic relationships with asset managers.
Clients increasingly expect both sophistication and personalization from their advisors. Aspen Investing meets that demand by unifying Mercer Advisors’ investment capabilities into a single ecosystem, helping to reduce portfolio costs while expanding access to custom strategies at scale. The offering serves as the investing engine within Aspen, Mercer Advisors’ broader advisory technology platform. Aspen Investing extends the same coordinated approach the firm applies across planning, tax and estate services to portfolio management.
Powered by Mercer Advisors’ investing team, led by Chief Investment Officer Donald Calcagni and comprising more than 125 professionals, Aspen Investing gives every advisor direct access to the firm’s full suite of investment solutions within a single system. The platform enables advisors to build a custom investing program for each client – built to reflect the context of each client’s unique situation, financial plan and investing preferences, and to bring to bear the full power of Mercer Advisors’ institutional relationships and capabilities.
“Aspen Investing was designed to give every client access to the kind of portfolio management typically reserved for endowments and large institutions, delivered in a way that reflects their specific goals and circumstances,” said Calcagni. “It puts the full power of our platform in every wealth advisor’s hands, so they can spend less time navigating systems and more time delivering fiduciary-centered advice. We’re committed to setting the bar high on investment sophistication and capabilities, while continuing to improve the advisor experience.”
Built in collaboration with Orion, Aspen Investing uses unified managed accounts (UMAs) to integrate strategies from multiple third-party managers within a single account, increasing customization while simplifying reporting. Consistent with Mercer Advisors’ planning-first approach, portfolios can be aligned with a client’s financial plan and investment objectives, incorporating tax management, security-specific exclusions or additions, values-based overlays and alternative investment allocations.
Aspen Investing also introduces a set of advanced portfolio capabilities, including:
- Direct Indexing built and managed in-house by Mercer Advisors’ investment team
- Advanced Tax Management including daily tax-loss harvesting and a capital gains tax budget
- Integration of Legacy Positions supported by Aspen Investing’s technology, which can work around and absorb low-basis holdings, easing the transition for clients with unrealized capital gains and for incoming partner firms
- Enhanced Reporting and Monitoring improving proposal generation, advanced reporting powered by proprietary business intelligence, and enhanced risk monitoring
“Aspen Investing was built to deliver sophisticated institutional-grade portfolios that are anchored to each family’s financial plan,” said Daniel Gourvitch, President of Mercer Advisors. “We’ve moved beyond models to create truly customized investment programs, built to reflect each family’s unique financial context and preferences. To every portfolio, we bring the benefits of the scale of our more than $100 billion platform and deep relationships with leading institutional managers.”
“Mercer Advisors’ Aspen Investing platform is a case study in personalization where every family can have a portfolio tailored to their unique goals, without sacrificing efficiency,” said Natalie Wolfsen, Chief Executive Officer of Orion. “Mercer Advisors is modeling its commitment to what’s possible in client-focused portfolio design and Orion is proud to support this next chapter in personalized, fiduciary-driven wealth management. It’s a leading-edge example of what we can deliver when we work closely together with enterprise firms in the Orion community.”
Aspen Investing was developed with the support of Avantos, as part of Mercer Advisors’ fully integrated Aspen technology platform. It is developed to work with major custodians including Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments and Raymond James, as well as dozens of leading institutional asset managers. The platform also incorporates Mercer Advisors’ proprietary private markets offering, Aspen Partners, to provide qualified investors with a curated portfolio of private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate and infrastructure strategies on institutional terms.

Mercer Global Advisors, Inc. was ranked #1 for non-mega RIA firms. Advisers who wish to be ranked fill out a 100+ question survey about their practice. Barron’s verifies that data with regulatory databases and then Barron’s applies their rankings formula to the data to generate a ranking. In each of those categories Barron’s does multiple sub calculations including asset type, growth, client retention, technology spending, succession planning, diversity of their teams, charitable and philanthropic work and compliance records. 2026 Wall Street Journal Buy Side – Best Overall Firm for High-Net-Worth Investors
Buy Side analyzed some of the largest and best-known independent registered investment adviser (RIA) firms and scored those firms based on their fees, advisor credentials, customer support, available services, portfolio construction and account minimum. These factors were weighted based on WSJ reader surveys regarding what they considered most important when choosing an advisor. Prioritized, were firms that have a client base of 50% or more HNWIs according to their most recent Form ADV filing. To be considered a top financial advisor for high-net-worth individuals, a firm has to offer comprehensive wealth management services. Firms were rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars using a weighted scoring model out of 100 possible points. A 5-star rating represents top performance relative to the field, rather than a requirement to achieve a theoretical perfect score of 100.
